POLE IS
WEIRD.
THAT'S
THE POINT.
01

THE SHORT VERSION

Come curious.
Leave with a new skill.

Most people walk into their first class having never touched a pole. That's normal. Intro to Pole is built for exactly that.

You’ll warm up, learn basic grips and spins, work on holding your own weight, laugh at least once, and probably do something you didn't think you could do.

SPIN. GRIP. LAUGH. REPEAT.
02

YOUR FIRST HOUR

Here's exactly
how it goes.

01

Show up 15 minutes early.

First visit means a waiver and a quick orientation. More than five minutes late and you’ll miss the warm-up. The pole will still be there.

02

Warm up. Properly.

Shoulders, wrists, core. It’s the least photogenic part of the hour and the reason the rest of it works.

03

Meet the pole.

Learn basic grips, spins and ways to hold yourself on the thing. You will squeak. Everyone squeaks.

04

Decide what's next.

Take another Intro class, move into Level 1, or join a small-group program. There’s no dramatic initiation ceremony.

WHAT TO BRING

Shorts.
That's the whole trick.

Bare skin is what grips a pole. Shorts that leave your knees and upper thighs exposed will make your first class much easier.

  • Shorts — leggings make climbing harder.
  • A top you can move in — anything comfortable works.
  • Bare feet or socks — heels are absolutely not required.
  • Water — you’ll want it sooner than you think.
  • No lotion or oil — slippery poles are nobody’s friend.
03

GOOD TO KNOW

You do not need to...

Be flexible
Be strong
Have dance experience
Own heels
Know what a spin is
Look like a pole dancer

You just need to be willing to try something slightly ridiculous in a room full of people doing the same thing.

QUESTIONS, PROBABLY

You've got questions.
Good.

Will I be the only beginner?

No. Intro to Pole is specifically for first-time students, so the whole room is in the same position.

Do I need to be strong or have danced before?

No. Strength is something the class builds, not something it asks for up front.

Can I bring a friend?

Please do. Just book separately so you each have a spot in class.

What happens after my first class?

You can take another Intro class, and after two Intro classes, Level 1 opens up. You can also explore small-group programs, conditioning, flexibility and more.

Where is the class?

Gowanus: 43D 9th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11215. The $25 first-class offer is for Gowanus; Dumbo Den is a private rental space, not a class location.
